Periyar International:

Periyar International was founded on November 13,1994 in Chicago, Illinois. It was inaugurated by late Hon. Chandrajit Yadav, former Minister of the central government and president of the Centre for Social Justice, New Delhi, in the presence of Dr. K.Veeramani, the president of  Dravidar Kazagam (D.K.)

Country specific Chapters of Periyar International can be formed in any country according to the rules and regulations of that particular country either as a Trust or an Organization with the consent of  the President of the Dravidar Kazagam,Tamilnadu and Dr. S. Illangovan, Chicago, the operational director of the Periyar International.

The main purpose of this organization is to propagate  the humanistic ideas of Periyar E.V.Ramasamy to the world.

Periyar International was originally founded in Chicago with  the following three directors.
Dr. Soma. Ilangovan.
Mr. V.J.Babu
Dr. Thembavani Gopalakrishnan

 Activities of the U.S. chapter:

Annual Periyar Birthday celebration

• 
  Discussion on humanism with visiting guests from India and other countries

• 
  Visit to Center for Inquiry head quarters at Amherst, New York to meet with Prof.Paul Kurtz and his staff. The team was led by Dr. K. Veeramani.

• 
  Sale of Periyar Books, and CDs at the annual FeTNA conferences and local functions.

The Washington D.C. chapter of Periyar International has been formed and is conducting activities like Periyar Birthdays. They are also managing  Periyar International Yahoo groups: periyar_international@yahoogroups.com

The other  international chapters are in Singapore and France and these chapters follow the rules and regulations of their respective countries.
Others are welcome to form their own organizations according to the rules and regulations of their own country.

All Periyarists are requested to publicize periyar.org; viduthalai.com ; periyar.org.in/v in all their emails and are also requested to gift books by Dravidian Publication for all the occasions. Currently all Periyarists have been enthusiastic in screening  Periyar movie and efforts are under way in screening them in US Universities with English sub title.
